The 401 Project: The Phoenix

This is a 1969 Cessna 401A also known as The Phoenix. In its heyday it was a luxury twin engine business airplane, but when I found it, it was a complete bird’s nest. I was practicing my takeoffs and landings from Chester County Airport and just off the runway sat this large twin engine airplane. After asking around about it, I found out it was owned by a man named Sam. I talked with Sam and found out it had been sitting for over 15 years! Sam then made a bet with me: I could have it for free, if I could start it. Well, a couple weeks later it became ours and it’s been an adventure ever since! We have an awesome team working on it right now and we are making great progress on it. After months of tearing it down, tracking down parts, and finding new issues, we are finally to the point of putting it back together. The series has received over 40,000,000 views on YouTube so far and has inspired thousands of current, new, and aspiring pilots. We are so excited to see this project through to the end. This plane will be flying humanitarian missions, veteran trips, animal rescues, and medical flights. We can’t wait to share all of the stories and adventures in the coming years and we are so thankful to our awesome fans for their support!
